What You Should Know About Reiki Healing In Long Island NY

By Marissa Velazquez

Reiki is a Japanese form of therapy that involves healing through the hands of a skilled practitioner. Central to its philosophy is the belief that there is a universal force (called 'ki') that gives life to all living entities. When someone's energy is depleted, they can develop illnesses. When their energy is high, they are strong, healthy and resilient. The following is a brief overview of what to expect with Reiki healing in Long Island NY.

Ki is the non-physical energy that flows through all living things. In Chinese healing traditions it is known as 'qi', in Indian traditions it is known as 'prana'. It gives life to every living organism on the planet, including plants, animals and human beings. Humans receive Ki from the air, from food, sunshine and sleep. We can also develop greater levels of Ki through practises such as deep breathing and meditation.

Reiki seeks to treat the whole person, body, mind and spirit, by balancing and restoring the flow of Ki. It is a simple therapy, yet can be extremely powerful in its effects. It has been effective in treating just about every malady one can imagine, and can be a powerful adjunct to conventional modes of healing.

Although it could not be claimed to be effective 100 percent of the time, one key aspect of this gentle therapy is that it almost always produces a beneficial effect. Patients will generally emerge from a treatment session at the very least feeling deeply relaxed and de-stressed.

This is due to the effect the treatment has on negative thoughts and emotions. This negative energy is held in the patient's energy system and disrupts its flow, causing mental unrest. Over time, this trapped energy can lead to physical illness.

Using intuition guided by higher consciousness, the healer will identify and target areas of the patient's energy field that are disrupted. He or she will direct his/her positive energy to the affected areas to create a positive charge. The aim is to clear away any disrupting negative energy and thus restore the healthy flow of Ki. When the patient's Ki is flowing properly, he or she should enjoy an improvement in health.

When a session is over, patients generally feel a much-enhanced sense of well-being. They often feel a glow of relaxation and a marked reduction in stress and negative feelings. Emotional turmoil such as fear, anger and worry will tend to be massively reduced, at least temporarily.

When undergoing Reiki healing in Long Island NY, or elsewhere, it is important to bear in mind that this system of healing is not a religion. It is certainly a spiritual practise, but it has no dogma. It is also important to note that it does not require that the patient actually believe that the treatment will work. An attitude of acceptance and open mindedness is certainly helpful, but the treatment will work regardless of the patient's belief in it, or lack of it.
