What Is Anxiety And What Can You Do About It?

By Kim Rosse

Although millions of people around the world suffer from debilitating anxiety and panic attacks that change their lives for the worse, there is still a lot of confusion about it. Many sufferers of this disorder don't even fully understand what anxiety is.

With that in mind, what is anxiety and what does it do? If you have an anxiety disorder, your mind is constantly busy trying to convince you that you are in real danger of being hurt. And if that were actually the case, you would soon come to the realization that your mind and body would actually react much the same.

Your heart would start racing. You would start to sweat and your pupils would dilate in order for you to see more clearly. These things are hard-wired into the human brain for survival and we need them when real danger is present.

If you are an anxiety sufferer though, you have a part of your brain that is not working the way it should be working. It is sending incorrect information to your body about the danger that it thinks is present, and that is what causes these terrible symptoms.

When you are suffering with an extreme panic attack however, there is not any real reason to have these feelings and sensations in your body. It is just the work of an anxious mind creating fake panic over nothing.

So how can you rewire your brain?

We all have a human brain, and it is really quite powerful though. Once you learn how to convince it that there is not any real danger, then you have already taken the biggest step towards eliminating anxiety from your life for good.

But it's not quite so simple. You have to tell your brain the right information in the correct way to get the best results.

And the very first thing you must do is to realize deep down that you and your brain are the ones causing all of this anxiety and panic. Then you have to come to the realization that you are not sick, you will not die and you are not losing your mind.

When you truly start believing these concepts, the rest becomes easy to deal with. Just as your mind has tricked you into thinking that you are always in danger, it can be tricked with the truth to believe that it can relax and only alert you when there is real danger.

Anxiety is a complex disorder, and it is very hard to live with. Luckily though there are a lot of methods to safely get rid of it, without having to take dangerous medications in the process.
